Dr. Carole Wehbe Chidiac
Carole Wehbe Chidiac is a Family Medicine Specialist and an Eating Disorder and Obesity Practitioner who has been working in Dubai for the last 18 years.
She has always been interested in Preventive Medicine, promoting healthy lifestyle and empowering her patients through health information and psycho-education.
She believes in Evidence based Medicine and share the evidence with the patient so he or she can make an informed decision, while keeping a holistic approach toward physical and emotional wellbeing.
Dr Chidiac applies this approach along with her knowledge and skills when she treats obese patients. She believes they need to have all the facts, to understand this complex chronic disorder with all its physical and emotional implications, in order to choose a treatment or procedure and set realistic expectations.
A multidisciplinary team (medical doctors, psychologists, nutritionists, surgeons, coaches…) is crucial in her opinion when treating obese patients as they need long term support of many healthcare professionals to achieve a healthy and fulfilling life, and this has proven to be very effective in her practice.
As an Aviation Medical Examiner, she has dealt with obesity health hazards as an aviation safety issue. By increasing the awareness that Obesity by itself is not necessarily an aviation safety concern and focusing on treating the medical consequences associated to it, she has been very successful in saving jobs and helping pilots and air traffic controllers keep a healthy weight.
Dr Carole Wehbe Chidiac has been on the board of advisors of MEEDA, Middle East Eating Disorders Association since 2013 and has been involved in many educational activities for the community, workshops for patients and training for professionals.
